    testing on line scanner feed

Im testing software, possibly going to keep a feed up for Bucks County.  It will have the North band, East, West, Emergency and bristol hi band (for the south band) VHF dispatch, medevac, pennstar PD zones 7-10, 6-11, all the Tac channels, EMS N & S, Montco VHF dispatch, Montco low band, Northampton FD Local

Send me an email and let me how the sound is or any other problems.  You will need windows media player to listen.  It will be up and down for the next couple of days as I try some other things.  So go here to listen    mms://bucksfd.no-ip.info:8100/

Re: testing on line scanner feed

hey, the live scanner sounds great.  is there anyway i can lock out unwanted channels?  i am only interested in north band, dispatch- both police and fire/ems.  maybe there's a way to seperate the channels on your end?

Sounds excellent! I'm hearing a good bit of Philadelphia and Burlington County activity... where / how high is your antenna to grab such awesome coverage?

My antenna is located outside about 12 ft above the roof, the phila & other stuff (burlington, chester, camden etc) are from East Coast 911 radio system, they are a buff group located in Phila/SNJ area who announce jobs over the radio.  I only have Bucks Trunking/Montco analog/Bucks analog/Pennstar & Medevac & Montco FD trunking.

    The following talkgroups are up:

    Bucks

North band, South Band, East, West & Emergency bands, EMS North & South, Hospital North & South, Tac 1,2,3,4 PD Zone 7-10 & 6-11

    Montco

    All the FD related talkgroups

    Analog channels

Bristol Repeater, Northampton FD local, Sta 19 local, sta 24 local, Fireground 1 & 2, Montco low band (33.70) Montco Hi band 154.13, 154.37, 154.445, 154.28, 153.85??? Medevac, Pennstar, Sta 46 local, Warminster FD local, Sta 29 local,

I can only pick up the Bucks North system so the TG's that are on the south system I can't get.  I can only pick up montco's east system so companies that are on the west system I cant hear them.

Since I had 58 people listening when 19s had the building collapse tonight, the server crashed so I'm working on that problem

Re: testing on line scanner feed

It sounded great when it was up.  If heavy use makes it crash, maybe using the Teamspeak server with Incidentbroadcast.com would work better.  A lot of people missed having the Bucks feed on that site when the operator moved out of the area.

Re: testing on line scanner feed

I'm having some trouble with the IP address changing and the program that I'm using knocks the encoder off line so that is one problem.  As for Teamspeak, I thought of that and other programs but I didn't want anyone to download anything else just to listen.  I'm looking into ARCserver which runs for free (to test) but to buy it its $50.00 bucks, you guys would have to download a client server (free) to listen and you could see the Bank tags and alpha tags on the Talkgroups.  Its kinda neat to look at but that is it. The only thing with testing this program is it only runs for 30 mins at a time, If I buy it, it will run forever.

I'm going to try another program to give me a static IP address later this week, so just please be patient till I work all of the bugs out,  If the feed is down someone could nextel me and let me know (email me for nextel direct connect number if you dont have it).

Re: testing on line scanner feed

    Hi all,

Yesterday 12/3/06 the feed was down due to computer software problems kept crashing my computer. I have had several people tell me that they can not access the feed other at other times.  The only thing I can tell you(them) is that you need to have the latest version of windows media player (version 9 or better I think its up to V11) so please update your player software (http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/player/10/default.aspx) or if your using Windows XP use the same link, also Version 11 is out but there are a few bugs in it V10 is more stable.  So update your computer.  Also if you are using firewall software you must allow full access to the media player on your outbound ports. most firewall software will prompt you to do this just click on allow full access (per mcafee).

The othe thing that knocks the feed offline is when my virus scan, firewall and spamkiller update, I get an error on the feed stating that it cant handle load and shuts down, since this has occurred I have suspended my updates to "off" hours so the few of you who listen after mid-night you might get kicked off every now and then (usually 2 times a week, but could be more) So I'm sorry about that.

Also is anyone interested in seeing what talkgroups or freq's are playing when you open the feed????  Meaning you would see say the Bands (alpha tags) that are on the scanner.

In the short time since I've had the feed up, I get approx 100 listeners per day somedays more somedays less.

Now that its up and running is there anything that you would like to see eliminated or added to the feed

Re: testing on line scanner feed

The west band is/was working.  On the digital side the west band is up, on the analog side I have the new 155Mhz freq (cant remember what it is exactly) and the "Bensalem" 500Mhz freq and on the Montco bank the analog freqs for bucks all the 155 freqs are there too.  So it could have been that other TG/freqs were busy and the scanner missed the west band action.

Re: testing on line scanner feed

I downloaded the media player and it still says it is not working. Could you please post the link address again? I though I had the right one. Thank and be safe, Bob.
