    Apparatus Happenings

It has been a long time since I posted on this site.  Will try to be more vigilant in the future.  I have a couple of outstanding questions I have at the current time to bring my databases up to date.  Any help on these would be greatly appreciated:

    1)      William Penn - have they sold the 1992 Pierce Lance engine yet ?

    2)      Newtown - did they sell the 1988 Pierce Arrow ladder yet ?

    3)      Warminster - did they sell the 1990 Pierce Arrow ladder yet ?

    4)      Midway - did they sell the 1982 PemFab/Emergency One or 1990 Piece Lance engines yet ?

    5)      Nottingham - did they sell the 1988 Seagrave engine yet ?

    6)      Bristol - have they sold either the 1985 Hahn/Smeal ladder or the 1996 KME engine yet ?

    7)      New Hope - what ever happened to the old Tac 46 ?

    8)      Newportville - did they sell the 1992 KME engine yet ?

    9)      Newport - did they sell the 1986 Emergency One Hurricane squrt yet ?

    10)  Feasterville - did they sell the 1990 Pierce Arrow engine ?

    11)  Langhorne - what is the game plane now since Elite went out of business and they had an engine on order from them ?

    12)  They use to post the meeting minutes for the Bucks's County Fire Chiefs Association on this site - but they have not done this since May.  Was wondering why ?  Is was very informative in regards to apparatus purchases and sales.

Listed below are some recent apparatus news and highlights.  You made add anything you like to this.

    Many thanks,

    BUCKS COUNTY

CHALFONT                          Has taken delivery of their 2007 Peterbilt/4-Guys, 500/2000, stainless steel elliptical tanker.

NEWTOWN                          Ordered a Pierce 105' Steel ladder. The truck has a Velocity Chassis with a Detroit Diesel Series 60 515 hp diesel engine and an Allison EVS4000 automatic transmission. Seating for seven (7) firefighters, air conditioning and TAK4 independent front suspension. Whelen LED warning light package with a Roto Ray and Federal Q siren.  The truck has an aluminum body with roll up doors. There is a Waterous single stage 2000 gpm pump, 500 gallon water tank, and two (2) speedlays, with an enclosed pump panel.  The generator is a 15Kw Harrison hydraulic generator with two (2) cord reels and Focus lights. The aerial device is the Pierce 105' steel aerial ladder with 750 pound tip load. There are remote tip controls and the Pierce Quick lock movable waterway. A September 2008 delivery is expected.

LOWER SOUTHAMPTON  They ordered a KME Predator XLFD with 8 seats, Cummins, Model ISL,  425HP,  Onan Protec 25kW generator, Will-Burt NightScan PowerLite NS10-9000OPT light tower, 20 Foot - 6 inch walk around rescue body, roof compartments, painted rollup doors, 6 bottle 6000 PSI cascade system.

THIRD DISTRICT                 They sold their 1990 Emergency One Hush, 4-door 7-person cab, 1500/500, rear engine, top-mount pump control console, 350 HP Detroit 6V92, Allison HT-740 auto trans, governed to maximum speed of 65 MPH, pre-piped deck gun, through Command Fire Apparatus of Lancaster to Pittsfield (Berkshire County, MA) where it will become a dedicated spare engine.  Will leave at the end of January.

YARDLEY-MAKEFIELD     They have ordered a Pierce 75' Aluminum ladder. The truck has a Dash Chassis with a Cummins ISM 500 hp diesel engine and an Allison EVS4000 automatic transmission. Seating for six (6) firefighters, air conditioning and TAK4 independent front suspension.  The truck has an aluminum body with roll up doors. There is a Waterous two stage 2000 gpm pump, 400 gallon water tank, and three (3) crosslays. There is a CAF system piped to five water outlets and a 30 gallon Class A foam cell.  The generator is a 15Kw Harrison hydraulic generator with two (2) cord reels and Magna Fire 3000 lights. The aerial device is the Pierce 75' aluminum aerial ladder with 750 pound tip load with the Pierce Quick lock movable waterway. A September 2008 delivery is expected.  They have also purchased a 2007 Ford E350 van, 4x4, diesel, automatic, 8 passenger, designated as Utility 80.

WILLIAM PENN                  Took delivery of one of their two Spartan Gladiator Classic LFD/Toyne; seating for 10; 515 HP Series 60 Detroit Diesel engines; Hale Q-Max 1500 GPM pumps; extruded aluminum bodies; high side compartments on both sides, full depth on the left side and offset depth on the right side to allow for slide in ladder racks; 500 gallon tank with 30 gallon Class B foam cell, and a 8KW Harrison Hydra generator on 1/17/08.  The second one will follow in awhile.  I understand they must build an enclosure for it at the sub-station since it will not fit into the present building.

REIGELSVILLE                      The 1989 Emergency One Hurricaine, 4-door cab, 1500/500, engine which they purchased from Northampton (Bucks County) in 2007 is now in service as Engine 42-1.  It has been repainted all red.  Looks like they did a nice job on it who ever did the refurb on it.

    Re: Apparatus Happenings

    Bruce,

The new ladder will have a single stage pump to match the rest of the fleet and it's current expected delivery date is November 2008.

Out of curiousity, how did you come across all of this apparatus information?

    Re: Apparatus Happenings

    Ken,

This is my hobby.  I have over 50 people who provide me information from time to time in the six county area surrounding the City of Phila (Berks, Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Lancaster, and Montgomery).

Is Staion 44 going to keep the squrt, or is it still for sale ?

    Many thanks,

    Bruce
