Re: Bad Day @ Home Depot

Irish, I'm just merely pointing out 1 incident that occured in our area out here in which a department was caught on film by our apparatus at a scene and the film was given to the Chief of that department to do with it what he wanted. I sincerely think Dave would be of that same opinion had he been given the chance. This Chief showed it to EVERYONE that showed up at the County Fire Association meeting that month and everyone had a good laugh about a department tagging a yard ornament (this still cracks me up) instead of a hydrant that they were given the location to in which they ad-libbed a little and allegedly found a closer hydrant. Again, in neither incident did anyone get hurt, THANK YOU GOD!! This is a car fire in a remote area, no exposures, no real danger. I can see very clearly from Indiana that there is bad blood between departments back East and it troubles me. I certainly hope that that was a joke about turning air off on one another. I've heard of this happening between volunteer and career departments back East, and hope it's not true in Bucks!! Throwing stones from Indiana!! Hmmmmm, let the one who's free from mistakes cast the first one!! It's not me. Irish and Dave, I think even Ray Charles could see there's nothing here but someone trying to make light of a mechanical error, no more, no less. Let's not read into it. ALL of you seem to be good-hearted and knowledgeable, (maybe a little honary at times!!) Don't blow this out of porportion. As you see from my posts, I'm not confrontational. No I don't know any of you except what I read. I stated you all seem intellegent and I mean that. Let's all learn from this and move on. Anyone got a blue light for sale??

Re: Bad Day @ Home Depot

Yes, we can beat this to death by "Monday Morning Quarterbacking" this incident and video.  I just have one question to pose to you Chief Pearl and its not to knock you or your company.... but if you are dispatched to an automobile fire whether police say its smoldering or well involved, isnt it general practice to be packed up and ready to go when you exit the apparatus.  This should be a training lesson to ALL firefighters and departments, we have all done things we probably shouldn't do on a regular basis but lets think this out logically, how many times have the police departments been wrong when giving fire reports?

Re: Bad Day @ Home Depot

Ziggy- The simple answer is yes on the airpacks. Our policy is to wear seatbelts to a call and when the parking brake is applied we then unbelt and pack-up. In the video you do see a firefighter walk across the scene without a pack. He is a Fire police LT. and also a FF he has gear in his car but no airpack so he was walking to the Tac to get one. I believe I already addressed the LT.

Freindly-Bob..... The stone throwing comment wasnt for you at all.

Irish Since you stated I have around 200 post on here didnt you notice that any dwelling, building or natural disaster that I posted on here? I havent asked anyone to do anything that I haven't done myself. I,  after 2 days of looking ,cant find a car fire post report on here at all.

Re: Bad Day @ Home Depot

Ok again Chief not trying to bash your company or the incident I was simply asking a question, however if your policy states to wear your seatbelt until the parking brake is applied then put an airpack on wouldnt it be a wise choice to place the airpack on prior to dismounting the apparatus rather than dismounting the apparatus, speaking to a Chief officer then going back to put an airpack on?

Hey friendlybob, the only thing that's missing is dumb, dumber & dumbest (xchief500 hoseheadmaps countryboy) with their two cents.  Thank god it WASN'T a dwelling with 50 people that needed to be rescued & it was only a Jeep Cherokee. Isn't it amazing how the funniest thing will get people to post & what a shame it is which people always have a problem with what was posted.

Re: Bad Day @ Home Depot

Let’s look at the intelligent posts and information you’ve shared with us in your 24 posts. By the way 5 have been deleted.

Here where you take shots at another Fire Departments.

“The Colwyn MAYOR is the company VICE PRESIDENT. The only thing worse than that is PRESIDENT & VICE PRESIDENT are HUSBAND & WIFE.”

“The Fishwrapper Times sugar coated it so it didn't stink so bad. “

“countryboy36ff, There's nothing coming from the grapevine. It's coming straight from Middletown TV.”

“Did anyone see the replay of the supervisors meeting (1-23-07) on MTTV? It looks like the William Penn Fire Co. might get two pumpers manufactured by Toyne Fire Apparatus from the Township. Low bid was 906,000.00 for both. Doesn't seem like the SFDA is to happy with this and wants the bids thrown out. This subject has been tabled until 2-13-07 so the SFDA can figure out what their going to do. Sounds like these trucks have all the bells and whistles for $453,000.00 each. Can anyone add to this?”

You suck up to other members here.

“Chief33, would you like a list of names that caused the death of this message board. There are a few names that replied to this post that would make the list. Your a smart guy, you know exactly who they are.”

“Does anyone have info on the 2008 Penndel Fire Company Spaghetti Dinner? “

“The first TOYNE has arrived at sta 7. How does it look??? “

All of the great information you given us in your pearls of wisdom posted here.

“Haven't you guys beat this to death enough? How bout some fire talk? “

“Didn't you get the memo??? We don't talk about those things here.”

You taking hard shots at the owner to of the site. Ha!

“Just a few reasons. You can't post THE TRUTH, THE WHOLE TRUTH AND NOTHING BUT THE TRUTH!!! So help me jdamm. “

WOW! You’re lucky you weren’t banned for that attack.

You taking hard shots at the Courier reporter.

“I called Matt this afternoon and thanked him for keeping us informed and told him to keep up the good work. “

“From your favorite newspaper Sat. July 14th, "More sex charges for dispatcher". It's not looking good for "Scuba Steve" this morning.”

You not stepping up and letting people here know who you are with blistering comments.

“Ray, your really trying to ruin a good topic for some of us. The only thing you exposed is how much it bothers you when you don't know who someone is and that I didn't smear a fire services's name or reputation in any of these posts. I believe countryboy took care of that speaking on behalf of his unknown source.”

    Who cares!

“Last time I saw old E-8 83 Ford/Pierce it was parked in front of the shop on Lincoln Hwy with a FOR SALE sign in the window. “

Lets just say I'm Joe Schmoe taxpayer. A lot of firefighters are taxpayers too. I thought a new apparatus manufacturer in town was an interesting topic thats why I posted it. If I missed filling in some information when I joined this site have the administrator shoot me an email. In response to Firstdue & Chief33, most companies survive on fundraisers & donations to buy apparatus & to pay bills but every company has a fire side & administrative side and thats what makes it political. You also make a good point countryboy about "Bad Politics" but you have a duty as a member to remove anyone invovled in bad politics. Don't forget who's money your playing with. Just my opinion. ps - Is your source absolutly sure???? “

“give me a T, give me an O, give me a Y....... you get the point. “

“Chief 33, just a little FYI, that noname company has been around for 65 years. Pierce & E-One's bids were higher. “

    Why do you care?

“Any news??? Pierce or Toyne??? “

I figure you’re nineteen years old; you’ve never done anything in your life and wish you had a job at a career department. All you would have to do is go to school, get an education and apply for a few positions and maybe you’ll get lucky. But I guess you’re not capable of the work, effort or have the drive to do anything with your sorry life. The above is a record of your effort to show your intelligence, wit, knowledge and or feelings that you have shared with us. Which of these pearls are you most proud of Einstein? If you need to be told who Einstein is either ask here or Goggle it just for your immense knowledge base.

While I did find the video of 33’s amusing I didn’t see the need to post anything here. We all have bad days but we usually don’t have someone videoing the incidents. Chalk it up to experience and move on.

If you would like to meet to discuss any of the comments or have any other brilliant comments you’d like to share with me personally send me a PM. Maybe you can get your parents to drop you off at my station for the meet. Or I could pick you up if you parents work.

By the way do you know or understand how to use Spell & Grammer Check? The list of errors found in your writings was very interesting.

    Have a great day.

Re: Bad Day @ Home Depot

Attack the Chief if you want.  But I'd rather address the issues and turn them into training issues that need to be discussed. First as Ziggy mentioned the air pack use.  Chief Pearl told us their SOP, and said it was handled, that's good enough for me.  What about someone opening the hood sooner by way of the release cable?  In most situations if you get to them soon enough they work.  That's something a Chief officer or Fire Policeman can do when they arrive, as long as safe to do so.  I know first hand you save at least thousand dollars not having to bust up a hood, a latch, a header panel & rad support.  Sure insurance will pay for that, but what if the person doesn't have insurance?  Problems with fire apparatus happen.  What about using an ansul?  Too many times we're focused on using water.  I'm sure there is at least one Ansul on the Tac, and maybe one in each Chief's vehicle. Get the hood opened quicker. To me it seemed too long.  "From the video" it looked like it might have been a short or something with electrical. Knock it down, secure the battery and maybe the vehicle can be repaired? Again, what if they didn't have insurance?  And FriendlyBob, while the yard hydrant ornament might have been funny, to me the sad part was someone disregarded the OIC's order because they "thought" there was a closer hydrant. Being a yard ornament, how did that person know it was there?  Again, that's a dereliction of duty, and could have caused legal issues for the fire department(s) involved.

hose head I have GOOD information on who this person is and where he runs. I've PMed him also with no response. Once I speak with his chief, and I will speak with his chief. I hope to meet him so we can discuss any problems he has with me. If you'd like to be included let me know I'll see what we can do to arrange a group get together.
