It is highly recommended that the Police, Fire and EMS Departments in the same jurisdiction have a mutual understanding on all matters in order to provide for better cooperation. A dispatcher must follow fire procedures to ensure proper dispatch of necessary apparatus and equipment.
Any special requests from a police officer as to sending additional apparatus or reducing apparatus to a scene of a fire or rescue will first be given to the officer-in-charge of the local company responding and only on his/her authority will the officer's request be honored.
All police patrols will be notified by the communications center on all fire, rescue and ambulance responses within their respective jurisdictions. It shall be the decision of the individual police department if they will respond to the incident or not.
